Power Circle – The Band

(1991 – 1994)

Power Circle consisted of Graham Dear and Richard Sullivan as the song writing and Production duo, playing and engineering all music and principally with Louise Burton as the vocalist apart from some early experimental tracks.

As a band, Power Circle was all about the musical and production dynamic between Graham and Richard. Both guys had a decade of highest possible quality studio training under their belts, rubbing shoulder with the best artists, engineers and producers. Both guys had a point to prove about showing what they could do as artists, engineers and producers in the studio for themselves. More than that, they hit it off as buddies in all ways personally and professionally, and thanks to Mr Ayman Sawaf at Burhill Park, had regular access to a first-class private recording facility.

Power Circle were signed first to M&G Records and then Deep Distraxion, part of the Edel Records Group, tracking and mixing at Burhill Park and occasionally mixing in high end studios such as Metropolis, London. Power Circle also picked up some remix work for other Artists around this time.

Power Circle’s most creative period peaked around 1994, including a release called “A little Love”. It was the accapella vocal from this tune that was combined with Chicane’s "Offshore" to become "Offshore 97" in 1997. Subsequently this reached number 17 in the Pop Charts and was included on 15 or more dance compilations of the year, including Ministry of Sound Annual 3, and becoming Power Circle’s highest profile success, by completely unplanned means. Well, that’s the music business for you!

On the amicable musical parting of the ways, Richard went on to release a couple of tracks as the Karma Collective, also with Deep Distraxion, and The Auranaut signed briefly with Excession Records, which was Sasha’s label run in conjunction with the Ministry of Sound.

Graham and Richard remain firm friends to this day and maintain and support the high standards of music production built over two decades.
